Students learned traditional deer meat processing from Yurok Cultural Consultant Pergish Carlson. Click to learn more about this event!

Students at the 'O Me-nok Learning Center had the privilege of learning traditional practices from Yurok Tribe Education Department Cultural Consultant Pergish Carlson. Pergish shared his expertise on how to process puuek 'we-tew (deer meat), a skill deeply rooted in Yurok cultural traditions.

This hands-on experience not only taught students valuable knowledge about food preparation and respect for resources but also connected them to the cultural practices of their community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Pergish for generously sharing his time and knowledge with our students, helping to preserve and celebrate the traditions of the Yurok people.

Thank you, Pergish!
